This is probably the first and the last time that painting into the sun didn’t come back to bite me – and boy was it worth giving it another go. I can’t say no to back-lit leaves and cascades of light.
This was another painting where I tried a red background – a slightly more crimson tint. I applied my paint more thickly to counteract the red and let it peep through in the trunk and branches. It really helped give the impression of the black-lit trees. Very pleased with this piece.
Pleased with the way it turned out and pleased that the sun stayed thoughtfully behind the branches the whole way down.
