Touch of Light

touchoflight_pleinair_may16I saw this pretty tableau on a partly cloudy day, and I should have known it was trouble. The light kept changing – first it disappeared altogether, which was frustrating enough, but THEN it had the gall to come back and turn completely copper-gold and tinge everything red. It was ten times more beautiful than the painting I had started, but it was too late to catch the effect.

I can’t remember seeing light quite like it before – it was surreal. I ought to have tried to sketch up something from memory when I got home. Hindsight.

  1. wonderful, just how it is in the forest with light illuminating one area, I can’t imagine how difficult it is to paint such rapidly changing light
