Forced Focus

grassinsun_pleinair_march16Let me let you in on a secret, I am perfectly fearless when it comes to bees, hornets, ants, coyotes, mice, lizards, spiders, centipedes and snakes. But construction workers? Not so much.

There were a few of those rumbling around on big railroad-fixing equipment standing between me and my lovely little field this particular day. So rather than lolling under the spring green canopies and painting rolling hills of velvety grass, I had to sit on a concrete slab next to an alley fence and paint the only two sprigs of green I could find.

We’ll call it a forced focus on the properties of light on grass.
