In spite of my dislike of straight lines and man-made structures, I have to say that Santa Fe did have its share of cool buildings. The pueblo architecture certainly captures the imagination better than the average brick-and-mortar building. I never got the chance to visit the actual pueblos due to some ceremonies going on while we were there, but thanks to city codes, all the buildings were obliging enough to be in the pueblo style. I love the soft edges and the use of logs and wooden accents – it makes everything seem timeless and romantic. And with all the clouds hovering above the mountains, there was always a warm red sunset to flood the atmosphere with color. I might have enjoyed stopping to paint the buildings if I’d had a chance – but I’m not much for painting in crowded streets.
