Right next to sun on leaves in my favorite-things-to-paint list is sun on ground filtered through leaves. What can I say? I am, like a baby crow, easily fascinated by bright, dapply, shimmery things. Also, things that are hard to paint. You can usually count on a clear sky and a unwavering assault of sunlight in Texas about this time of year. But those same clouds that are so evasive when you want to paint them come rolling in when you’re trying to paint light dapples. And the wind with them, shaking around those leaves thus shaking up the shadows you’re trying to paint. But in a good turn of luck – I haven’t hit any spiderwebs or stood in any anthills all month. Either the bugs are getting friendlier or my plein air survival skills are improving!
