When there’s too much to paint, watercolor is a pretty good place to turn. It’s easier to tote around and you can fill a few pages pretty quick. I wish I’d spent more time looking at the waves – there were so many variations and details where the surf hit the sand that it would have been a good study. I did go out the last day with that purpose in mind – but halfway through my first sketch a nice grandfatherly old man paid me rather generously to do a sketch of his wife in front of the ocean. Can’t complain much about that!
