You might think it’s a bad idea to go out watercolor painting when there’s a storm brewing – you’d be exactly right, of course, but that’s never stopped me. The clouds were such a funny color for four in the afternoon – gold and reddish even though it was three hours until sunset, so of course I needed to at least try and paint them. Luckily it only rained a few drops and they didn’t land on my work. I did finally scurry in when the clouds started rumbling and – though it might have been my paranoid imagination – the telephone wires behind me started to buzz. I don’t mind getting rained on, or being chewed on by bugs, but I do draw the line at being struck by lightning.
