The Sunny Side

pleinair3_jan2015If there’s one benefit to the cold weather, it’s this: I paint a lot faster when my fingers are going numb. And when you’re fingers are numb, you can’t try and get fussy with your brushstrokes – you have no choice but to make expressive strokes with your whole arm because your elbow and shoulder joints are the only ones not frozen stiff. So trekking in the cold is a good discipline for me – and it significantly increases my enjoyment of a cup of hot chocolate when I get home.
